About Dr. Yuliyan Stoyanov [Your Name]
Violinist Yuliyan Stoyanov has been recognized by the media as a diverse performer with distinct individuality, who embraces many musical genres along his journey. From strictly classical to jamming with pop and rock bands, through recording music for movies and theater, he has shared his talent with audiences small and large. Stoyanov has performed in intimate bistros and on the stages of crowded sports arenas on three continents. He has collaborated with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians of our day.
Throughout his career, Stoyanov has performed numerous recitals and has soloed with the New Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra at the National Music Academy in Sofia, Bankya Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Opera Blagoevgrad in his native Bulgaria, and the International Baroque Soloists in Fredonia, NY. Many newly written works, including ones by acclaimed composers Michael Nyman, Jack Body, and Thomas Ades, have received their premiere due to Stoyanov’s passion for contemporary music.
An avid chamber musician, the violinist was a co-founder and leader of two different string quartets – Arcadiana String Quartet, the Quartet-in-Residence of New Symphony Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria and Castalian Quartet in Cincinnati, OH. During their active years, both quartets thrived on the musical scene, earning fame through their large repertoire and diverse collaborations with leading musicians, soloists and orchestras. Stoyanov was also one of the founding members of the Revolution Quartet and played a crucial role in settling the Classical Revolution movement in both cities, Cincinnati and Youngstown, OH. Since its start, he has stayed involved, performing frequently and passionately propagating the movement’s idea.
During his residency as the concertmaster of New Symphony Orchestra, Stoyanov’s strong leadership guided the group through multiple musical journeys in the form of concerts, masterclasses, recording sessions and festivals. His stunning concertmaster solos, under the baton of Rossen Milanov, have been featured on the CD recording of Frank Lewin’s Opera in three acts Burning Bright, available by Albany Records. He was invited to lead the Symphony Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales Suisse under the direction of Adam Fischer for their concert in Tonhalle in Zurich, Switzerland. As an orchestral musician, Stoyanov has shared the stage with Nigel Kennedy, Yuri Bashmet, Misha Maisky, Emmanuel Pahud, Orli Shaham, and Kiri Te Kanawa, and has worked with conductors Paavo Jarvi, Gerard Schwarz, and Gianluigi Gelmetti among many others.
Along with his classical roots, Stoyanov has explored various other genres, jamming and improvising in different styles. Yuliyan’s love for music has made him a partner with Electric Light Orchestra, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Newbees, and leading artists as Sarah Brightman, and Josh Groban.
Yuliyan Stoyanov’s professional career includes solo, chamber music and orchestral appearances in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Nederland, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Russia and Japan, as well as throughout the United States. The rave reviews, following many of these appearances, made the violinist a frequent guest in the media. Recordings of Stoyanov’s performances can be found in the archives of both, the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television, as well as West Virginia Public Radio and WNKU.
